It takes great daring for one man to attempt to do a musical show dedicated to the music of the most popular foursome in musical history, THE BEATLES. Steven Chera dared and succeeded very nicely in new musical show Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Don’t Tell Mama on West 46th St. Steven’s new arrangements of mostly early Beatle hits add a jazzy tone and somewhat different sound to songs that are known by all. From his opening number I Saw Her Standing There to his very moving closing number Imagine, Chera’s very pleasant baritone provides a somewhat different sound to these classic songs.
His up-tempo swinging version of Something and his performances of Yesterday and In My Life were among the evening’s highlights. A swinging trio, led by pianist and musical director Bob Kay, backed Mr.Chera for the evening of Beatlemania.
